Description

Esch2022 European Capital of Culture was the setting for an innovative storytelling platform, immersing the entire city and international community in an opening ceremony attended by a sold-out audience both live and online. A host of immersive artists engaged and guided the spectators through an interactive village, while a REMIXED storyline combined two theatre-based stage performances from different cities into one unique event.

Both the Esch city hall main stage and the Esch-Belval launchpad were transformed into an intricate 3D mapping backdrop, where creative ideas for a better future were loaded into augmented reality rockets by the future generation of Luxembourg.

The colorfully illuminated skies over Esch22 were full of the sounds of performances by regional artists destined for stardom on the international stage.Attended by Her Royal Highness the Grand Duchess of Luxembourg, this hybrid opening ceremony engaged all the senses and made a memorable impression on everyone present.
